Boabhan Sith of Scathach Grove celebrate eight great festivals a year - the winter and summer solstices, the spring and autum equinoxes, and the four fire festivals of our Celtic ancestors (Samhain, Imbolc, Beltane, and Lughnasa). These festivals teach us about life, growth, death, and renewal.
In addition, we recognize the monthly waxing and waning of the moon, the increase and decrease of energies. Taken together, these teach us about the revelance of both masculine and feminine forces, the God and the Goddess.
Woven within the fabric of the seasonal changes are the life cycles of animals and plants that have important practical and magickal lessons. Our framework of operating is a symbolic key to other levels of being. This key evolves with each turning of the cycle.
Magick is a constantly expanding state of consciousness, an awareness of the subtle workings of the universe. In the Craft our awareness begins with the cycles of manifest Nature and the creative forces behind them. The Wheel of the Year is our magickal paradigm. By working with it and in it, year after year, we, Boabhan Sith of Scathach Grove undergo a spiral of expanding consciousness. Our highest aim is to draw down that consciousness into the manifest world.
Boabhan Sith of Scathach Grove are experienced Witches of magick sworn by The Oath of the Boabhan Sith. This position lasts a lifetime as long as the Witch continues the commitment to the Craft.
The vast majority of the public believes that all Witches are the same. Due to this misconception, most Witches are still underground and the public only hears about the Black, or evil, Witches. Female Witches are called Witches and male Witches are also called Witches. However, some male Witches prefer to identify themselves as Warlocks, due to the more masculine tone, however the true meaning of the word "warlock" is translated to "oathbreaker". Boabhan Sith of Scathach Grove idendify our male Witches as Witches.
The coven is the gathering of Witches for the specific purpose of a unison ritual work of magick. Covens are extremely secret and the location where the coven meets is called the covenstead. Some covens rotate covensteads for security puposes. The contents of the covens are absolutely secret. Once a coven is formed, no outsiders will have any knowledge of what occurs therein. This is the oath of the coven.
You will NOT find Boabhan Sith of Scathach Grove participating in ANY sacrificial rituals of any form. Our view of the world is that everything is connected. Any vibrations on the web of life eventually reverberates everywhere else, like ripples moving out from a stone thrown into a pond. We intergrate and communicate with the web, and through its fibers, perform magick. We recognize and work with this force, knowing that because this force is Divine, all things that contain it are sacred. Manifest Nature is sacred.
Membership into Boabhan Sith of Scathach Grove is open only to members of Scathach Grove who have demonstrated three qualities: magickal prowess, a desire to protect and promote the evolution of the planet, and a devotion to Scathach and Gwyn ap Nudd. Boabhan Sith of Scathach Grove is composed entirely of Scathach Grove members who are oathbound to fight the forces of the Corrupter and serve Scathach and Her consort, Gwyn ap Nudd, the Lord of the Wild Hunt. It should be noted that the Boabhan Sith of Scathach Grove are ultimately chosen by the Dark Lady and the Lord of the Hunt; thus, the coven is composed solely of members of Scathach Grove. Boabhan Sith of Scathach Grove will accept only those who share a bond of blood with them. While they may accept aid from others, the burden of the Boabhan Sith of Scathach Grove is ultimately theirs alone.
